ODOT Projects Continue Across Jackson And Josephine Counties
Several Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) construction projects are underway throughout Jackson and Josephine counties this summer, with motorists advised to expect delays, lane restrictions, and occasional ramp closures.
JACKSON COUNTY
• Lost Creek Lake Bridge Repairs on Highway 62
A $6.1 million bridge improvement project is underway on Oregon 62 near Lost Creek Lake between mileposts 35.2 and 35.5. Crews are repairing and upgrading the bridge deck, guardrails, bridge surface, joints, pavement, and striping.
Traffic is restricted to a single lane through the work zone, with flaggers, automated flagging systems, or temporary traffic signals directing vehicles. Delays are expected to remain under 20 minutes.
• Highway 99 Widening Near Central Point Nears Completion
Most construction has been completed on a $12 million safety and accessibility project along Oregon 99 between East Glenwood Road and Coleman Creek Bridge.
The project widened the highway, added pedestrian and bicycle improvements, installed streetlights at four intersections, upgraded drainage systems, and created several mid-block pedestrian crossings equipped with flashing beacons. Motorists may still encounter crews performing final cleanup work.
• Oregon 234 Closure Scheduled for Pavement Repairs
A pavement repair project on Oregon 234 near milepost 15.1 will require a full highway closure beginning July 6.
Starting at 8 a.m., the highway will close between Modoc Road and Dodge Road while crews repair sections of roadway damaged by ground settling. Detours will be available via Dodge Road and Antioch Road. Motorists may also use Table Rock Road to access Oregon 140 and Oregon 62 through White City.
The closure is expected to remain in effect until July 20.
• ADA Ramp Improvements Continue
Construction is continuing on the second phase of Jackson County curb ramp improvements. The $11.9 million project will upgrade 113 pedestrian curb ramps in Central Point, White City, Medford, Talent, and Ashland to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
Drivers should expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures. Alternate routes will be provided when sidewalks are closed.
JOSEPHINE COUNTY
• I-5 Pavement Project North of Grants Pass
A $25 million rehabilitation project continues along Interstate 5 between Monument Drive and north Grants Pass.
The work includes pavement repairs on approximately 10 miles of freeway, bridge joint replacements, guardrail installation, and removal of roadside hazards. Construction is expected to continue through the fall.
Motorists should watch for intermittent lane closures and traffic control devices throughout the work zone.
Several overnight ramp closures are also scheduled:
‣ June 16–18: Exit 61 northbound on-ramp and off-ramp closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
‣ June 16–18: Exit 66 southbound on-ramp and off-ramp closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
‣ June 21–23: Exit 61 southbound on-ramp and off-ramp closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
‣ June 23–26: Exit 58 northbound on-ramp closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
‣ June 24–26: Exit 58 southbound off-ramp closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• Regional ADA Improvement Project
A larger $25 million ADA compliance project is also underway across Jackson and Josephine counties. The project will install, repair, or upgrade 373 pedestrian curb ramps in Ashland, Phoenix, Medford, Central Point, and Grants Pass.
Work has begun in downtown Grants Pass along Oregon 99 between H Street and E Street near Redwood Highway. Drivers should expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures. Pedestrians will be directed to alternate routes when sidewalks are temporarily closed.
The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2027.
ODOT encourages travelers to slow down in work zones, watch for crews and equipment, and plan extra travel time when construction activities are underway.
