Government officials are warning Southern Oregon property owners to be alert for a scam involving fraudulent planning and zoning payment requests.
The scam targets property owners by sending notices or contacting them while falsely claiming to represent a local planning or zoning department. Victims are instructed to make payments for supposed permit renewals, zoning compliance, or land-use fees that do not actually exist.
