The Rogue River Jr. Sr. High volleyball team started its first season in the 2A East Cascades Conference on Tues., Sept. 22, at Lost River, but by the time they got on the bus for Klamath County, the Chieftains had already picked up five wins in non-conference play.
At 5-5, the Chieftains equaled the number of wins in the program’s most successful season this decade, in 2022, when they beat Butte Valley, Calif., in a three-team date at Lost River on Wed., Sept. 16. That same day, the Chieftains saw Lost River for the first time this year, and for the first time since 2023, with Raiders (5-5) winning in three sets.
The Chieftains were at the Brookings-Harbor Tournament on Sat., Sept. 19, where they played Ferndale, Calif., and fell 2-0.
After their league trip to Lost River on Sept. 22, the Chieftains are home against Culver (1-4) on Thurs. Sept. 24, and Bonanza (2-8) on Tues., Sept. 29.
