Fire District 1 To Hire A New Chief This Weekend

A new chief at Jackson County Fire District 1 should be hired by the afternoon of Thurs., Sept. 24.

Most of the eight candidates who applied to the position, currently held by six-year chief Mike Hammond, through the Special Districts Association of Oregon, will be in Rogue River at the Fire District 1 station for a community meet-and-greet beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 23.

Hammond is retiring at the end of the year.
